Activities at the Heber Valley Camp

A number of special facilities are available at the Heber Valley Camp, and will provide a rich variety of activities as the camp matures. Some of these activities require additional fees.

Challenge Course
There are five challenge courses in operation at the Heber Valley Camp. These facilities can be reserved by family/church groups for an additional fee. The fee for using these facilities is included in the Young Women camp costs. Young Women campers will be pre-scheduled, other campers must make their own reservations. These facilities are available only when licensed, certified and camp-approved personnel are present to operate them. See additional information on the Challenge Courses page.

Legacy Lake Waterfront
Legacy Lake is available to all campers and will remain available each season as long as water levels allow. Fifty 3-person canoes, paddles, and life jackets are available. Groups and families may also use the 15 paddleboats. Legacy Lake use can be scheduled by groups and families for an additional fee. The fee for using the lake is included in the Young Women camp costs. Fishing and swimming are not allowed. See additional information on the Waterfront page.

Amphitheaters
Amphitheaters are available in each camp. Amphitheaters can be reserved by family/groups for an additional fee. Amphitheaters are assigned by the HVC Young Women Camp Committee for Young Women camp and are included in the Young Women camp costs. See additional information on the Amphitheaters page.

Hiking
An extensive network of hiking trails is under development at the Heber Valley Camp for the enjoyment of all campers. With over 8,000 acres of mountain terrain to explore, there will be some terrific options! There are seasonal restrictions for certain hiking trails. Check with your camp hosts after check-in for further details. See these additional resources when planning your hike:
  • Heber Valley Camp map - shows all the trails and mileage
  • Hiking Trail Descriptions - a brief summary of what you will see on each trail
  • Hiking Times - a chart showing the approximate time it takes to hike from various locations around HVC
  • Hike Plan - a required form that establishes a contact person while campers are on the trails
  • Trails Host - the HVC trails host is to available to help campers plan hiking routes and advise them of any special situations. Your camp host can help you contact the trails host once you are in camp.

Sand Volleyball
These facilities are not scheduled by the camp. If specific days and times are desired, please coordinate with the other campers sharing your area. There is one sand volleyball court for each camp and two in the Legacy Lake area.

Service Projects
Heber Valley Camp will have a limited number of service projects available. These projects are intended to be a means of improving and maintaining the camp while providing an opportunity for those who have benefited from the camp to give something back in return. These projects may include tasks such as in-camp trail maintenence, building steps, fire rings or small bridges, lining driveways with logs, grooming around new building, etc. Our most common projects are designed as one-hour projects for up to 40 workers. Larger groups may request multiple time slots. Young women groups can reserve service projects through their Unit Details page. Groups and families should see the Service Project page and send in a request via email. You will be contacted to arrange a project that meets the particular needs of your group.
